Bye bye Ticket Tax! Amsterdam Airport Schiphol treats passengers to 200 metres of cream cake

Schiphol Pressrelease 1 Jul.09

From today, fares to one of the 262 destinations served by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has gone down thanks to the abolition of the Ticket Tax. Schiphol is celebrating by treating all departing passengers to Dutch cream cake, more than 200 metres altogether, and some cheerful Dutch tunes.

See Bye Fly discount
Just for today, passengers will also receive a 11.25% discount on all items in the See Buy Fly shops. Discount vouchers will be handed out at the passport and ticket control desks.

Cream cake
The 200 metres of cake has been divided between the three departure halls at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. A team of 18 local pastry chefs worked together to make the cake. They used 1000 litres of whipping cream, 400 kilos of fruit, 170 kilos of sugar, 170 kilos of flour, 1 kilo of vanilla, 20 kilos of lemon juice and no less than 6800 eggs. Between 8:00 and 17:00 hostesses will be handing out cake, as well as party hats to add to the festive atmosphere. Passengers can even be photographed wearing their party hats. The photos can be downloaded free of charge on Thursday 2 July from 12:00 noon from: www.schiphol.brandphoto.nl
